There is no better example that Dr. Chandana Jayewardene or “Chandi” as he is known among the industry partners and colleagues to demonstrate the diversification of CHSGA members and different paths that SLITHM education opens up.
Chandi has worked in South Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America, the Caribbean and North America and held accountability in the likes of budgets of $30 + million, teams of 700 employees and 3,300 students.
As an international hotelier he has served 34 heads of state/government. He is the only non-European elected as the President of the world's largest professional body for hospitality managers - Institute of Hospitality, UK (HCIMA/IH) since its inception in 1938.
Chandi has been a university and college professor and Held the position of Associate Dean - Centre for Hospitality & Culinary Arts George Brown College, Canada.
He has published 18 books and journals and issued and over 100 articles.
He is currently the President of Chandi J Associates Inc, Canada, a consulting firm that works with leading Hospitality Training Institutes.
Githanjali is one of the finest example of CHSGA Members who prove to the world that with the qualification from SLITHM, not only you can win the Hospitality industry of the Sri Lanka but also the Hospitality industry of the World.
Subsequently to graduating from SLITHM she join John Keells Hotels which is currently known as Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts and hold the position of Executive Housekeeper in various properties of the chain. After gaining quality industry experience she decides to join SLITHM as a Senior Lecturer where she groom few generations of hoteliers who go on to add value to the hospitality industry across the world
Githanjali’s international career begins in 2005 by joining Singapore based COMO Hotels which operate hotels across the Asia, Australia and North America and UK. She holds various senior leadership roles in COMO including the role of Group Rooms Division Manager for COMO Hotels worldwide where she was responsible for effectively maintaining and upgrading Rooms across COMO Hotels and Resorts globally. After an illustrated career with COMO she joins an another industry leader, Shangri La as Consultant Director – Procurement where she setup the pre-opening procurement process for its’ Sri Lankan operation. She is currently a Director at Hotel Supplies Asia PVT LTD.
Asela is one of our young members who is making CHSGA and SLITHM proud by holding a senior position in one of Sri Lankans growing chain of hotels, He is the Group Learning & Development Manager for Citrus Leisure.
After Graduating from SLITHM on 2013 specializing in Food & Beverage, he Starts his professional career in Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts Dubai and take his first step towards Learning & Development by join the L&D Team of Jumeirah Etihad Tower. After a successful stint at Dubai he moves back to Sri Lanka and join Cinnamon Lakeside as an L&D Executive and get promoted to Senior L&D Executive with in a short span of few months demonstrating the caliber of SLITHM graduates and CHSGA Members. After almost Three years with Cinnamon Lakeside, Asela move on to take the challenge of leading the Learning & Development Function for Citrus Leisure. He is currently responsible for people development activities of all properties under Citrus Chain.
